About me
Hello, I'm Jo
Welcome. I'm Jo, a qualified counsellor offering a calm, supportive and confidential space where you can take some time for yourself. Sometimes life can feel difficult to navigate. You may be struggling with something that has happened recently, carrying something from the past, feeling stuck, overwhelmed or simply not quite feeling like yourself. You don't need to have everything figured out before you come to counselling, and you don't need to know exactly what you want to say.
My role is to offer you a space where you can feel listened to, accepted and understood, without judgement. Together, we can explore what you are experiencing at a pace that feels right for you.
My Approach
I am a person-centred and integrative counsellor.
Person-centred counselling means that I see you as the expert in your own life. My role isn't to tell you what to do or give you all the answers, but to offer a safe, accepting and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, work together on understanding yourself and finding ways forward to live your life to the fullest.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches and adapt the way I work to you as an individual. We are all different, so I don't believe counselling should be a “one size fits all” approach.
Ultimately, our sessions are about you — what you are experiencing, what you need and what you would like to understand, explore or change.
A Little About Me
I believe that being genuinely listened to and having the space to be yourself can make a meaningful difference.
I aim to bring warmth, honesty, compassion and acceptance to my work, while respecting that everyone has their own experiences, values, identity and way of seeing the world.
I am naturally empathic, while also being able to offer encouragement and gentle challenge when this feels appropriate and helpful. I will work alongside you, helping you to make sense of what you're experiencing and support you.
You don't have to arrive with everything worked out.
You can simply start where you are.
